Money, money, money

People often say money is not important. There are things far more treasured in this world. Family, friends, loves, pride, etc. List them, I’m sure you can. So money isn’t everything, but everything is money. Ironically.

How often you felt that you wish to have more $$ to enjoy a luxurious living, somewhat a better life, somewhere just a lil’ above the average? An earning of 2k today, with a meagre increment next year, and the year after won’t help much. 2k may be a good value now, but inflation is around us. Years later, 2k could be worth only 1k or probably worst (lesser) of the current value. Enough to pay for your house, your car, your card debts?…. And, don’t forget that you still want to leave some for your luxurious lifestyle!!!

We often heard people making a mission statement, "I want to earn 100k by the age of 25." Just recently, someone shared with me a conversation he overheard from a bunch of fresh grads. The young man preached to the rest that they must achieve something fast, find a way to getting more $$, since there are so many competitive youngsters around. It’s like now or never moment thingy. Sound familiar?  You probably used to be one of them yesteryears, and if you have made it, Congrats! But, frankly speaking how many of you out there walk the talk?

Take some time out today and reflect. Money isn’t everything, but everything is money. Good Luck!

Achieving the basics in life already costs a lifetime of savings. My house costs me RM202k, car RM42k, and renovations RM30k. I’m 25 yrs old and I doubt there’s a possibility I’ll be debt free by 30yrs old. The car will clear in two yrs, the renovation paid in cash, but the housing loan’s balance as of today is RM201k plus interest. Gasp!

The most of us work to pay off the bank, and once we do. . .we think of getting another loan. An average American owns something like seven credit cards, and quite possibly negative savings.

Some direct marketer told me once, “It’s true that money can’t buy happiness, but hey, it’ll help! Doesn’t money make you happy?”

    Yeap, money is everything, agree.

But don’t let it consume you i guess. People often said in order to have happiness you got to have money. it’s depend on what you do to get ‘happiness’. It’s our choice. People always want big house, home theatre set, hanging such exclusive place, wear expensive drees and they said they’re happy, but truth is, that not the only way to gain happiness.

Hey, buy drinks, sit peacefully, just staring at the lake in one fine evening also makes me happy. It only cost me RM2.

    Cheer up!

Last week, someone told me over the lunch that I shouldn’t start my blog with ‘Money, money, money’ coz it might leaves a wrong impression to people out there that I’m a money-minded person. Well, I didn’t think about that when I blogged.

It’s just a topic afterall, somehow a fact reflecting could-be-anyone current circumstances. It’s good if you had tried thinking ahead. Afterall, it’s your life! And by saying this, I agreed with Hibiki - ‘It’s our choice.’ As long as you live in balance and as long as you know your needs & wants, happiness will follow. Yeah! \(^_^)/
